The Scottish Planning & Environmental Law (SPEL) annual conference will be held on Thursday 16th September 2010 with Terra Firma Chambers once again providing main sponsorship of the event.  Chaired by Ralph Smith QC of Terra Firma Chambers, the full-day conference will focus on Infrastructure Investment and Delivery and includes Alasdair Burnet and James Findlay as speakers.  The conference will be held at Lothian Chambers, High Street, Edinburgh and will be followed by a drinks reception to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the SPEL Journal.

Widely regarded as the leading planning and environmental law event in Scotland, the SPEL Conference provides a unique forum for discussion and debate of the highest quality with leading experts. As the country continues to struggle with the deepest economic downturn in living memory, the Conference will consider infrastructure investment and how planning is contributing to the Scottish Government’s economic recovery plans. A number of aspects of infrastructure investment and delivery will be investigated including transport and renewables projects, their environmental impacts, infrastructure provision and developer contributions, an update of key planning law issues and a review of the new planning system one year on.
