Terra Firma Chambers’ Peter Hammond has been appointed by Her Majesty the Queen as a full-time Sheriff based in Stonehaven. Mr. Hammond’s commission will enable him to serve throughout Scotland's sheriff courts but in practice he will be expected to sit mainly in the Sheriffdom of Grampian, Highlands and Islands.
Mr Hammond called to the bar in 1992 and has extensive experience in a wide range of civil litigation and criminal proceedings before the Scottish Courts. He served as a Temporary Sheriff in 1998-99, and was appointed a Part Time Sheriff in 2008.
Neil Beynon, Director of Terra Firma Chambers said: “Chambers are delighted at Peter Hammond’s appointment as a full time Sheriff. We wish him well in his future judicial duties. He will be missed as a valued member of Chambers”.
The appointment is effective from 14 April 2011.
