David Bartos and David Parratt recently gave talks to the Perth Faculty of Solicitors on the general theme of arbitration in Scotland after the passing of the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010. The first by David Parratt covered the structure and purpose of the Act together with a comprehensive analysis of the rights and duties of the parties and the tribunal in arbitrations seated in Scotland and operating under the new "Scottish Rules." David Bartos took this forward in his discussion of the practical aspects that parties should take into account when setting an arbitration in motion and thereafter running it, paying careful attention to the "traps for the unwary".  Chris Lindley, on behalf of the Faculty CPD Committee commented  commented that the talks has been "very enjoyable and informative" both for the lawyers as well as the surveyors present - "definitely something for everyone!" 
 
Both members of Terra Firma Chambers  are Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and also members of Terra Firma's specialist Arbitration service TFArb. Both are also authors on the subject matter - David Bartos being the co-author of Greens Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010 (Greens, 2010) and David Parratt being the co-author of The Scottish Arbitration Handbook (Avizandum Publishing, t.b.p.
