Terra Firma Chambers hosted its annual Local Government conference in Glasgow on Monday 10th October 2011. Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, places at the conference were very quickly filled and the conference was fully subscribed. Attendees included delegates from the majority of Scotland’s Local Authorities, representatives from the Scottish Government’s legal directorate and solicitors in private practice. For the first time at a TFC event, six places were reserved specifically for university teaching staff and diploma students.
The Conference was chaired by Dame Elish Angiolini DBE, QC and focused on a wide range of issues which regularly concern local authorities. Terra Firma members provided updates on Administrative Law, Permanence Orders, Valuation and Rating, Planning and Environmental Law and Licensing Law and other topics covered included Judicial Review, Employment Issues and Protective Costs Orders.
Terra Firma Chambers would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended for their positive feedback and for helping to make the event such an unqualified success.
