Referendum Debate a Resounding Success
Terra Firma Chambers hosted a topical discussion examining the legal implications of a referendum on independence and Scotland’s constitutional future. Lord Wallace of Tankerness, Advocate General for Scotland and non-practising member of Terra Firma Chambers gave an introductory talk outlining the UK Government’s position contained within the recently released consultation document. Chairman of Terra Firma Chambers, Roy Martin QC, led a panel of legal experts in an illuminating and informative discussion with delegates encouraged to offer their views and add to the debate. In addition to Lord Wallace and Mr. Martin, the panel comprised Elaine Motion, partner and head of litigation at Balfour Manson; Prof Colin Munro, Emeritus Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Edinburgh; and Terra Firma Chambers’ James Findlay QC (England & Wales).
