The Scottish Law Reform of CPO - SCPA Engagement Programme

The Scottish Law Commission (SLC) recently published a discussion paper on their plans for Compulsory Purchase reform in Scotland.  The paper is over 330 pages long and poses 177 questions.  Given its size and complexity, the Scottish Compulsory Purchase Association (SCPA) is running a series of events to explain their proposals and the options for reform.

The SLC are attending these events to listen and engage in the debate in order to help them formulate proposals for changes to the Scottish Law.  These events will also help the SCPA develop its own response to the paper.

If you practice in compulsory purchase, or have clients who are affected by it, come along to these free events to listen to what is being proposed, and have your say.

The events are:-

Making, Confirming and Implementing CPOs – legal issue

Conveyancing

Compensation Rules - The six rules

Compensation; CAADs and Planning Assumptions

Compensation - Injurious affection and Disturbance; and more

Compensation – a mixed bag of core issues

All the events are free, and displayed on the CPA website.  For further information and to book your place at any of these events, please follow the links above.

An explanation of the engagement programme can be found here.
