Terra Firma Chambers is delighted to announce that Michael Howlin QC has joined the Stable with immediate effect.

Michael called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1982, serving company-law and chancery pupillages in Lincoln's Inn before coming to practise in Scotland.  He called to the Scottish Bar in 1996, taking Silk in 2009.

He is recognised as one of the leading Silks at the Scottish Bar in his main practice areas of company and partnership, corporate insolvency and commercial law.  The current edition of Chambers UK (2015) ranks him Band 1 for restructuring and insolvency and he is also ranked under company and commercial dispute resolution.

Michael is also renowned for his expertise in EU law.  He is fluent in several European languages.  He regularly advises on competition law, public procurement and state aid and has significant judicial review experience in relation to issues of EU law.
