Terra Firma Chambers’ Julius Komorowski will be one of the speakers at the forthcoming seminar Protecting the Human Rights Act – Celebrating the Magna Carta, to be held on 15th June at the Legal Services Agency, Glasgow.

The 15th June 2015 marks the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta which remains one of the most famous and celebrated documents in our history. But while the Magna Carta will be celebrated, the document which reflects many of the very same principles as the Magna Carta, the Human Rights Act, is proposed to be repealed.

At this event, Julius will be offering some personal observations on what legislative techniques might be used to replace or amend the Human Rights Act 1998, and how the domestic courts might react.

Julius is on the panel of counsel for the Equality and Human Rights Commission and is a standing junior counsel for the Advocate General.  He has extensive experience advancing and resisting arguments based on the European Convention on Human Rights.
