Luise Locke joins Terra Firma Chambers

Terra Firma Chambers are delighted to announce the addition of Luise Locke, Advocate, to the Chambers.

Luise’s extensive experience makes her an ideal fit with Terra Firma’s core strengths of property, planning, commercial, and administrative law. Prior to being admitted to the Faculty in 2000, Luise was a partner with Murray Beith Murray WS, where she specialised in property law, focusing on commercial property, landlord & tenant, agricultural holdings, land obligations & variations, banking & rights in security, repossession, insolvency, land use/planning, and land related contracts & disputes. Since having being admitted to the Faculty, she has extended her field of practice to include employment law. Luise has extensive experience of a number of different courts and tribunals, including the Court of Session, Sheriff Court, Lands Tribunal, Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal. She has acted as Junior Counsel for the pursuers in a number of personal injury litigations, notably McTear v Imperial Tobacco (2005) 2 SCI - the first litigation of its type in Europe to proceed to proof on the liability of tobacco manufacturers for lung cancer. Additionally, she has appeared as Junior Counsel in various Inner House petitions for trust variation, as well as re-arrangement schemes under section 425 of the Companies Act 1985.

Alongside her extensive legal practice, Luise has given numerous talks to private organisations on rights in security & commercial property litigation, and is the current annotator for the Scottish Planning Encyclopaedia of the Planning Act 1997. Vice-Chairman of Terra Firma Chambers, Douglas Armstrong QC, said: "I am delighted to welcome Luise to Terra Firma Chambers. Our members are already aware that our policy of providing advocacy services in linked specialties has found considerable favour in the market place. The addition of Luise serves to strengthen Terra Firma’s position as one the leading providers of advocacy services in property, planning, commercial and administrative law.”
