Terra Firma Chambers’ deputy clerk, Andy Veitch successfully completed the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 29th May in aid of Parkinson’s UK.
Despite the warm conditions and a crippling bout of cramp from mile 19 onwards, Andy managed to cross the finish line in a time of 4:20:27. Any disappointment at failing to achieve his goal of finishing in under 4 hours was alleviated by the fantastic amount raised for Parkinson’s UK. So far Andy has pledges totalling over £4,250 and there is still time to sponsor him by visiting his JustGiving page.
Andy said: ‘I would like to thank everybody that has supported me and given so generously to a cause that is very close to my heart. The level of support I received before and during the race was instrumental in keeping me going and getting across the finish line. In the week that ‘the Greatest’ finally succumbed in his long battle against Parkinson’s disease, I am delighted to have been able to raise so much money to aid in the ongoing fight to find a cure. With the excellent research being carried out by Parkinson’s UK, hopefully that day will not be too far off.’
