Terra Firma Chambers are delighted to sponsor the 25th Annual Scottish Planning and Environmental Law (SPEL) Conference which will be held on Thursday 29 September 2015 at the COSLA Conference Centre, Verity House, 19 Haymarket Yards, Edinburgh.
The SPEL Conference is widely regarded as the leading planning and environmental law event in Scotland, attracting highly experienced practitioners and an audience which typically comprises senior figures in local government and private practice. The Conference takes a more critical look at the operation of the planning system and the speakers, audience and topics make for stimulating discussion and debate.
This year’s event, entitled “Scottish Planning Reform – New Opportunities or More of the Same”, takes place against a background of continuing change and proposed reforms to the planning system as it is pressed to deliver more quickly and with frequently less resources. As the Scottish Government considers its response to the Planning Review Report, the key challenges facing the economy and communities remain unchanged - supporting sustainable economic growth, creating strong and resilient places and protecting and enhancing the environment.
The conference will be chaired by Terra Firma's James Findlay QC with fellow Terra Firma members Stephen O’Rourke and Denis Garrity providing Planning Law Case Roundups.
