Terra Firma Chambers’ Maurice O'Carroll appeared at the recent public local inquiry into the proposed Park of Keir sports academy with associated housing in the Green Belt. He appeared on behalf of the local interest group, Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion (RAGE), who have been opposing development on this area of ground for nearly 20 years.
The inquiry was limited to issues concerned with Green Belt policy, economic benefits, enabling development for housing, sporting provision and the sustainability of the proposed development.
The Reporter hearing the case is due to submit a report making recommendations to the Scottish Ministers for consideration after himself considering all of the evidence heard at the inquiry and the final submissions lodged. The appeal was called in for consideration by the Scottish Ministers due to the national importance of the Green Belt, Sporting and Economic issues raised by it.
