Terra Firma Chambers' 'Knowledgeable and Highly Regarded Advocates' Acclaimed in the Latest Edition of Legal 500

Terra Firma Chambers has been recognised in the latest edition of the Legal 500 for the ‘notable expertise’ of its members and its ‘exceptional’ clerking team.

Despite the retirement of Gordon Reid QC and Alan Summers QC being appointed a senator of the College of Justice, 23 members of Terra Firma received 34 individual recommendations across our core practice areas of Property, Planning, Commercial and Administrative Law; an increase from last year’s total.

“Terra Firma Chambers has notable expertise in planning and environmental law, but other key areas include insolvency, commercial and tax matters, with Roy Martin QC possessing a niche practice in pensions litigation.”

TFC was recognised for its expertise in planning, environmental and licensing law, boasting ‘some of the most knowledgeable and highly regarded advocates’ in this area.  Special mention was also made of the Chambers’ commercial arbitration service.

In addition, there were further recommendations for our dual-qualified members in respect of their practices at the Bar of England & Wales, including an additional 4 for our latest ‘double silk’ James Findlay QC.

“On the clerking side, practice manager Emma Potter is ‘a pleasure to work with’ and ‘extremely helpful’, going ‘above and beyond for clients’. Her ‘exceptional’ team is ‘reactive, proactive, and always available and willing to assist’. Furthermore, individuals provide ‘transparent fee structures for complex cases and always with a smile’.”

Chairman of TFC, Michael Howlin QC said:  This is a very gratifying confirmation of the further recognition of TFC as a major Scottish set in its key areas of practice. I particularly congratulate those members of our chambers who are mentioned for the first time.
