Stephen O’Rourke has recently accepted membership of Edinburgh Law School’s prestigious new Centre for Commercial Law.  The aim of the Centre is to foster research in Scottish, British and European commercial law and to promote excellence in the teaching of commercial law. The members of the Centre conduct research in various fields of commercial law including company law, banking law, labour law, agency law and consumer protection law.  The other members of the Centre are Lord Bingham of Cornhill, Professor Douglas Brodie and Dr Niamh Nic Shuibhne, both of the Law School, and Dundas & Wilson’s construction expert Lindy Patterson.  Details of the Centre can be found at www.law.ed.ac.uk/centreforcommerciallaw  Stephen has also recently been appointed to the Council of the Stair Society, details of which can be found at www.stairsociety.org
