David Parratt joins Terra Firma

Terra Firma Chambers is very pleased to announce that David Parratt has joined the Chambers with effect from 2 March 2009.  David has a wide ranging practice covering many different aspects of civil law. He is particularly strong in the areas of heritable property, trust work, general commercial work and contract.  David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (F.C.I.Arb), has a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Keble College Oxford and is a CEDR Accredited mediator with a keen interest in all forms of Dispute Resolution.   He also enjoys Higher Rights of Audience before the Commercial Court of the International Finance Centre (DIFC) and has rights of audience before the Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court, Doha, Qatar.  In 2007 he was an Honorary Lecturer in the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy, (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee.  He has written extensively, including a book on the development and use of written pleadings in Scots civil procedure which has been published by the Stair Society, and he is also the joint editor of another recent Stair Society publication.

David has appeared regularly at all levels before the Court of Session, the Sheriff Court, the Scottish Land Court, the Scottish Lands Tribunal and also in the High Court of Justiciary.  He was described by the Firm Magazine 2007 as one of the "Rising Stars of Advocacy: Tomorrow's People”.  Robert Sutherland, Treasurer of Terra Firma Chambers, said, "David has a strong commercial background, and is a very respected and able advocate.  His depth of knowledge and experience means he will fit in well with the way in which Terra Firma is continuing to develop and grow.  We warmly welcome his decision to join us."
