Terra Firma Chambers’ Philip Simpson QC and Gordon Watt will speak at Longmark’s Scottish Private Client Tax Planning Conference, taking place at the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club on Wednesday 18th May 2022.

Philip will present the ‘Critical IHT Update’ and will consider IHT issues post the 2022 Budget, recent consultations for the future of IHT, a review of recent cases including APR / BPR, particular issues arising from the Herbert case, an update on non-dom issues and domicile enquires and IHT.

Gordon Watt will present a talk entitled ‘UK property disposals in the new era’. He will focus on main residence relief including a review of recent cases and other recent changes, incorporation of property partnerships, LBTT, CGT and property for non-resident individuals, UK property disposals by non-resident companies and the provisions for reporting disposals and paying CGT within 60 days of completion.

The conference will be chaired by Alan Barr of Brodies and will also feature talks by Alun James of Temple Tax Chambers, Nigel Holmes of Catax and John Woolley of Wooltech Ltd.
