Terra Firma Chambers has again been recognised as one of the leading stables at the Scottish Bar in the latest edition of the Legal 500.

The 2025 edition of the Legal 500 directory was released on Wednesday with Terra Firma ranked as a leading set for Administrative and Public Law, Employment, Private Client and Property, Planning and Construction.  In addition, the stable received a further ranking for Crime and Regulatory work with five TFC members recognised for their participation in high-profile public inquiries.  Among them, Kenneth Young was identified as a ‘rising star’: 'Kenneth is very responsive and very thorough in his work. A very high quality advocate.'

Kenneth was also hailed as 'a rising star of the property and planning Bar’ where Terra Firma was recognised as the home for ‘a good range of experienced planning counsel’.

Terra Firma is one of only two stables recognised for its expertise in respect of Employment Law and Private Client, receiving a Tier 1 ranking for both: 'The stable has a good range of senior and junior counsel.'

TFC members received 30 individual rankings across core practice areas, including four for commercial disputes and a Tier 1 ranking for leading silk Roddy McIlvride KC.

The clerking team are described as 'extremely helpful. Always engaged and engaging' and noted for providing a ‘top class’ service.  Having won the Clerk of the Year Award at last Year’s Legal 500 Scotland Awards, and nominated again this year, Emma Caskie-Potter is described as ‘one of the star clerks out of all the stables in Scotland.'
