Terra Firma Chambers are pleased to announce that Raymond Doherty QC has been appointed as a Senator of the College of Justice by Her Majesty the Queen, on the recommendation of the First Minister. Mr Doherty was nominated for appointment on the basis of a report by the independent Judicial Appointments Board and will take up his appointment on 3rd May 2010.
Mr. Doherty, a founding member of Terra Firma Chambers, has enjoyed a distinguished career at the bar since calling in 1984. He was an advocate depute between 1998 and 2001 and Clerk of the Faculty of Advocates between 1990 and 1995. Between 1990 and 1997 he was standing junior counsel, firstly to the Ministry of Defence (Army), and then to the Scottish Office Industry Department. He took silk in 1997 and is a member of the Scottish Planning, Local Government and Environmental Bar Group.
