The agricultural and crofting members of Terra Firma Chambers draw attention to fact that the Crofting Reform Act 2007 comes into full force on 28 January 2008. Certain parts of the 2007 Act have already been brought into effect. The main provisions which come into force on 28 January relate to: obtaining the approval or consent of the Crofters Commission, and the information provisions of Part 1 of the Act; the exchange, division, assignation and succession provisions in Part 2 of the Act; the re-letting and compensation provisions of Part 3 of the Act; and Section 28, in Part 4, concerning the contravention of, or failure to comply with, the common grazings regulations.
