Trustbar - Disappointed Beneficiaries

The Trusts, Fiduciaries and Executries Bar Group (TrustBar) will present a seminar on Disappointed Beneficiaries at the AK Bell Library in Perth on Thursday 1st May 2014.

The seminar will be chaired by Terra Firma member and Chairman of Trustbar, David Bartos and features two talks: fellow Terra Firma member and Vice-Chairman of Trustbar, Nick Holroyd, will present a paper on Testamentary Capacity and John Robertson, Advocate, will give a talk entitled Facility & Circumvention and Undue Influence.

TrustBar is a group of advocates who practise in the areas of wills, trusts and executries and in areas concerning fiduciary relationships. The inclusion of “Fiduciaries” in the title reflects the use of the fiduciary principle not merely in trust law but also in areas such as the law of directors’ duties, agency, partnership, and proceeds of crime. TrustBar promotes the expertise of advocates in these areas and as part of this runs CPD-qualifying events for the Solicitor branch of the profession throughout Scotland.

Formed in 2006, TrustBar has provided seminars throughout Scotland and to leading firms of solicitors in the field which have been well attended and received.  TrustBar is delighted to return to Perth with a seminar from two experienced experts on testamentary incapacity and challenging wills on the grounds of facility and circumvention and undue influence, topics which remain of key importance to all concerned with wills and private client work.

The seminar will be of interest to private client, litigation and tax practitioners and has been accredited by the Faculty of Advocates as contributing 1 hour CPD for its own members; it is eligible for a similar award from the Law Society of Scotland for the solicitor branch of the profession.  Registration will commence at 16.45 with the talks starting at 17.15.  The seminar will be followed by drinks and canapés and the cost for attendance is £25 per delegate.
